Assign each marker a job. Some play instruments, some play tunes, and 🎤 markers play your own recordings.

Print markers

Markers are simple 4×4 grids — print them to stick on stones, or use Trace guide to copy them by hand. Each one has a letter nickname. ~6–8 cm works well for a camera ~1 m away. Use matte paper (no glare).

Style Marker size

Tip: in Trace guide mode, draw the thick black frame, then fill in the black squares of the 4×4 grid. Up to two mistakes still work!

How it works

Make markers (Print tab): print them, or pick Trace guide and draw the simple 4×4 grids by hand. Each marker has a letter (the D-stone is drums!).
Stick or draw each marker on a flat stone.
Prop your iPad/iPhone so the camera looks down at the ground where the stones sit.
Tap Start and allow the camera.
Put a stone in view → its instrument starts. Take it away → it stops.
Move a stone (left/right) and turn it to change the sound.
Turning a stone changes its pitch (high/low) by default. In the Markers tab, each marker has a “Turn does” setting — change it to Speed, Instrument, Mood, etc.

Hand-drawing tip: keep the black frame clean and the grid roughly square. It even works with up to two coloured-in squares wrong — and if a drawing is too messy it just won't make a sound (it never picks the wrong instrument).

What each stone does

Melodies & your own voice

🎶 Melody stones play real tunes (Twinkle, Ode to Joy…). Slide one left↔right to change the instrument (xylophone, piano, harp, guitar, flute), turn it for high/low.
🎵 Instrument stones play free notes on a real instrument — pick which one in Markers.
🎤 My Voice: in the Markers tab, tap Record a sound, make a noise, and assign it to a 🎤 marker. That stone then loops your sound — turn it to make it deep or squeaky!
🎉 Fun Sound stones play party + animal effects (claps, cheer, whistle, laugh, dog, cat, bird, frog, duck, boing, bell) — they repeat while the stone is down. Pick which in Markers.
📺 YouTube stones play a YouTube link while down — paste the link in the Markers tab (needs wifi). Tip: for real animal/laugh sounds, record them with a 🎤 Voice marker.

Tips for outdoors

Sounds are mastered (compressed + limited) to stay loud and clear on a Bluetooth speaker. Connect the speaker, then tap Start.
Matte print, no glare. Keep stones flat so markers don't curve.
Add to Home Screen first (on wifi) — then it runs offline by the firepit.
Everything is in one key on a pentatonic scale, so it always sounds nice.
